Ilene Beatrice (Mitchell) Wilcox

Ilene Beatrice Wilcox, age 76, of 47 Plum Avenue, Shelby, died Sunday afternoon, June 22, 1997, at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a long illness. She was born September 18, 1920 in Ontario, Ohio the daughter of Frank Roy and Frances Ruth (Houseman) Mitchell.

Mrs. Wilcox was a former employee of Therm-O-Disk in Mansfield, and had done alot of volunteer work in her lifetime. She was a member of the National Wildlife Federation, A.A.R.P. and loved animals.

She was baptized in the Methodist Church.

She is survived by 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Judy and David McGavic of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Carol Jean Yates of Shelby; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dawn Norris of Mansfield and Gloria Mitchell of Washington; a special nephew, Rev. Edward Brady of Washington.

Mrs. Wilcox was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Damon Wilcox in 1991 and by 3 brothers, Marion Mitchell, Wesley Mitchell and an infant brother.

Calling hours will not be observed. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with her nephew Rev. William Eccles, Pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Livonia, Michigan, officiating.
