Idonna Mae (Alt) Rietschlin
Idonna Mae (Alt) Rietschlin, age 73, of 4028 Baker road, Crestline, died Friday morning September 12, 2003 at her home (Lone Oak Farm), surrounded by family members. Idonna bravely fought cancer for nearly two years and her life has been an inspiration to others.
Idonna was born March 14, 1930 in Shelby, the daughter of the late Eugene and Cecile (Miller) Alt. She was a 1948 graduate of Ontario High School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem and the Altar and Rosary Society at church, the Knights of Columbus Council #1968 Ladies Auxiliary, past president of the MSC Auxiliary and was a homemaker. Idonna and her husband Leonard, whom she wed on September 4, 1948, really enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Shelby Clover Leaf Western Square Dance Club. Idonna’s gentle and loving ways will truly be missed by her entire family.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard, one son, Patrick (Stephanie) Rietschlin of Mansfield; seven daughters, Cecelia (Charles) Warren of Milan, OH, Joan (Joseph) Raccuia of Dublin, OH, Sara (Kim) Tubergen of Angola, IN, Lora (Lee) Brenneman, Kathleen Rietschlin of Crestline, Mary Lu (Mark) Howell of Dayton, OH and Lisa (Dan) Phillips of New Washington; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Rietschlin of Upper Sandusky, OH; 20 grandchildren, Nathan (Jenny) Tuttle, Justine & Adam Tuttle, Emilly (Shaun) Tuttle Fox, Allison & James Raccuia, John, Karen, & Mark Tubergen, Spencer (Beth) Brenneman, Scott, Rolland, Reese, & Logan Brenneman, Alex & Aaron Rietschlin, Eric, Amy & Julie Howell and Maxwell Phillips; one great-grandson, Brice Brenneman. Idonna enjoyed being a part of each of their lives. Also surviving are one sister, Mary Studer of Crestline; four brothers, Bill (Janette) Alt of Florida, Albert Alt of Sandusky, Dan (Barb) Alt of Shelby, and David Alt of Mansfield. In addition to her parents Idonna was preceded in death by a daughter Lucy in 1959, a son, James in 1993, son-in-law, Denzil Tuttle in 1992, brother-in-law, Charles Studer in 2003 and a brother, Richard.
Friends may call on Sunday, September 14, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where Christian wake services will be conducted at 8 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bethlehem with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart School or Med Central Hospice.
