Hubert J. “Jack” Vail
Hubert J. “Jack” Vail, age 68, of 18 Sherwood Drive, Shelby, died Tuesday afternoon in the Cleveland Clinic. He was born October 27, 1925 in Newark, Ohio.
Mr. Vail was a retired Vice-President from Uforma Shelby Business Forms where he was employed for 45 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Shelby Masonic Lodge #350 F.and A.M., Shelby Chapter #178 R.A.M. the Mansfield Council and the Mansfield Commandery. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Shelby. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.
Mr. Vail is survived by his wife, Betty J. (Bly) Vail, whom he married on May 24, 1947; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Franz and Janet Kelley-Vail of Pembroke, New Hampshire; Eric and Dianne Vail of Shelby; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Bruce Nayowith of Rhinebeck, New York; 7 grandchildren, Arika Vail, Gunnar Babcock, Brooke Babcock, Samuel Kelley-Vail, Julia Kelley-Vail, Tessa Nayowith, and Hannah Nayowith; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and Kenneth Gates of Shelby;
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert J. Vail, Sr., and his mother and step-father, Cora and Franz Hall.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Shelby with his pastor, Rev. Jeff Matthews, officiating.
Memorial expressions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home , 168 West Main Street, in Shelby.
