Howard “Brownie” Brown

Howard “Brownie” Brown, age 85, of Myers Road, Shelby, died Wednesday, August 23, 2000 at his home after a short illness.

Brownie was born January 2, 1915 in Eubank, Kentucky the son of the late Chester and Lillie
(Morgan) Brown.

He was a S/Sgt. in the CCC Camp #578 in Morehead, KY from 1932-1937. He moved to Shelby in 1941 and retired from Copperweld in 1977 after 35 years of service. He, along with his late wife Hattie, enjoyed making ceramics and teaching ceramic classes in their home. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, and his frequent trips to Cornell’s IGA.

He was a very devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Stephanie Brown of Ashland; 3 grandchildren: Rhonda Davis, Steve Brown, and Natalie Brown all of Ashland; 3 great-grandchildren: Julie and Brooke Davis of Ashland and Charles Lee Brown of Glasgow, KY; a sister-in-law: Irene Morris of Shelby.

On November 5, 1938 he married Hattie M. (Caudill) Brown and she preceded him in death on August 4, 1989 .Two brothers: John and Bill Brown are also deceased.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Private graveside services will be conducted on Monday at Oakland Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Caring For You or Shelby Home and Public Health.
