Hershel D. McKinley
Hershel D. McKinley, age 74, of 2908 Taylortown Road, Shelby, died unexpectedly Friday evening in Shelby Memorial Hospital. ‘He was born February 9, 1916 in Ashland County, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas and Flossie (Kinney) McKinley.
Mr. McKinley retired from Shelby Business Forms, and prior to that he had been employed at Westinghouse and Mansfield Tire and Rubber. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was a member of AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Pettit) McKinley, whom he married on October 2, 1950; 1 daughter, Mrs. Cliff (Darlene) King of Shelby; 2 grandsons, Andy and Brian King; 2 brothers: Richard McKinley of Mansfield and David McKinley of North Carolina; 2 sisters: Mrs. Jack (Ruby) Clark of Mansfield, and Mrs. Arthur (Opal) Burdine of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his brother Royd and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. John J. Bradley, pastor of the First United Church Of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Shelby American Legion. Calling Hours will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League or the First United Church of Christ and left in care of the funeral home.
