Henry E. Hafer

Henry E. Hafer, age 54, of High School Avenue, Shelby, died Sunday, August 12, 2001 at the Heritage Care Center in Shelby after a 3-month battle with cancer.

He was the beloved son of Harold J. “Bud” and Florence F. (Sutter) Hafer, born January 21, 1947 in Shelby; dear brother of Harriet and William Zawie of Parma; loving uncle of Gregory and Tracy
Zawie and Karen and Scott Stakolich; great uncle of Samantha Stakolich and Lauren Zawie; dear friend of his special friend, Pamela Winters of Shelby. Also surviving are 2 aunts, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1994.

Henry was a 1965 graduate of Shelby High School and was employed the past 30 years as a rotary pressman at Miami Systems. He was an honorably discarged Navy veteran of the Vietnam war, serving 4 years aboard the USS Wilhoite, with its home base in Pearl Harbor. He was a 30-year member of Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326.

At Henry’s request, there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 15, 2001, at 11:00 AM at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Interment will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the Joint Veterans Council. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
