Helen (Smith) Kinsell

Helen Kinsell, age 101, formerly of Mansfield Avenue, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness.

Helen was born January 25, 1907 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late William and Mary (Hummel) Smith and was a 1925 graduate of Shelby High School. Helen was a retired employee of Montgomery County in Dayton. Prior to that, she worked for 30 years for Leland Electric Company in Dayton.

Helen is survived by a niece and her husband, Donna and Ben Lay of Shelby; Great nieces and great nephews, David and Jody Lay of Mansfield, Brenda and Craig Herb of Raleigh, North Carolina, Matthew and Chris Smith of Shelby, Kathy and Mark Harris of Columbus, Ohio, Linda and Gary Lemmon of Hageman, Idaho. Several great great nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by her husband, David Kinsell in 1973, 2 brothers, William Smith and Burch Smith, a sister, Dorothy Champion, a nephew, Desmond Smith and a niece, Mary Housholder.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Brad McBee, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
