Helen Rigg Smith
Helen Rigg Smith, age 90, of Fostoria, and formerly of Shelby died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at St. Catherine’s Care Center in Fostoria.
She was born June 16, 1918 in Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Ethan E. and Bertha S. (Weber) Rigg. She was a 1936 graduate of Shiloh High School and she retired in 1979 from Shelby Business Forms.
She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria. Her hobbies included sewing and knitting.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Georgia Ann and Danny Wagner of Fostoria; 3 sons, Elton E. Smith of Fostoria, Philip R. and Jannie Smith of Shelby and Joseph T. and Leony Smith of Willard; 11 grandchildren; Several great grandchildren; a brother, George R. and Ruby Rigg of Shelby and a sister-in-law, Joann Rigg of Shelby. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Delbert A. Rigg.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 21, 2009 from 10-11 AM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby 44875, where funeral services will be at 11 AM with Rev. Larry Knigga officiating. Burial will be in London Cemetery on Plymouth Springmill Road in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Hope Lutheran Church. My family and I are sorry for your loss. I remember most Aunt Helen cooking family dinners with Grandma. I could never get my pasta dough as thin as Aunt Helen and Grandma – as hard as I tried to make filled noodles. We can’t be there at this time, but plan to be in Ohio sometime this summer.
