Helen J. (Sheridan) Thompson
Helen J. Thompson, age 76, of 108 Glenwood Drive, Shelby, died Wednesday afternoon in Shelby Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born January 6, 1918 in Shelby, the daughter of Joseph David and Rose Mary (Riedy) Sheridan.
Mrs. Thompson retired from the Citizens Bank of Shelby after many years of service. Prior to that she worked for Gump’s Olds-Chevrolet in Shelby. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, where she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. She was a member of Ladies AuxilIary of the V.F.W. George Broderick Post #291 in Shelby.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Thompson, whom she married on September 28, 1940; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Mimi Thompson of Shelby; 3 grandsons: Mike Thompson and Greg Thompson both of Shelby, and Brad Thompson of Charleston, South Carolina; 5 sisters: and 3 brothers-in-law: Catherine and Roger Adam of Shelby, Lucy and Rebel Cornett of Shelby, Berdie and Tom Lambert of Oil City, PA, Martha White of Mansfield, and Barbara Gillingham of Detroit.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Charles, Donald, and Robert Sheridan; and by 2 sisters: Edith Kraus and Dolores Snader.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Wake services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 8:45P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with her pastor Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to the Shelby Public Health league and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.
