Helen C. (Condit) Carleton

Helen C. Carleton, age 90, of 3280 Walton Blvd. Apt. 25, Rochester Hills, MI 48309, and formerly of 37 East Gaylord Avenue, Shelby, died Thursday, June 3, 1999 at her home.
She was born August 19, 1908 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of Roland E. and Eva (Hopkins) Condit. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School in Dayton, Ohio and attended the Ohio State University.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shelby where she had been the directress of the Altar Guild for over 50 years. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Mansfield Women’s Club. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dr. Theodore Walton of Rochester Hills, Michigan; 5 grandchildren: Karen, Margot, and Geoffrey Carleton, Alicia and Meredith Walton; 2 great-grandchildren: Acadia and Erica Kocher. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Rose Condit, a sister, Rhea Sparrow, her husband, Wayne M. Carleton in 1992 and by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Marcia (McCollough) Carleton in 1992.
Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial Services will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shelby and will be announced at a later date by the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.
Memorials may be made to the Mansfield Womens Club or to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
