Helen B. (Sutter) Hohenbrink
Helen B. Hohenbrink, age 84, of Crestline, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby.
Helen was born September 27, 1924 in Shelby the daughter of the late Alfred and Agnes (Gwirtz) Sutter. She was a 1942 graduate of Shelby High School. On April 27, 1946 she married John W. Hohenbrink. Helen was the epitome of homemaking. Her children feel blessed having had a wonderful mother who was a devout Catholic, who loved her family and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life – gardening, canning and living on the same farm for 62 years. Helen was very patriotic and proud of all her family members who served in the United States Armed Forces. She enjoyed walking and was often seen walking the country roads near her farm. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem and the Altar Rosary Society.
She is survived by her 7 children: Tony and Jessie Hohenbrink of Crestline, Fr. Michael Hohenbrink of Findlay, Mary and Larry Shreffler of Lexington, Steve Hohenbrink of Crestline, Sr. JoAnn Hohenbrink OP of Columbus, Rose and John Workman of Crestline, Emily and Gary Christy of Medina; 9 grandchildren: Stephanie and Jake Blackstone, Melanie Shreffler, Marc Shreffler, Karen Hohenbrink, Sharon Hohenbrink, Joel Workman, Laurel Workman, Megan Christy, Allison Christy; 3 great grandchildren: Isaac, Anna and Eric Blackstone; a sister,
Sr. Annunciata Sutter SND of Toledo; 2 brothers, Edgar and Mary Ann Sutter of Crestline and Tom and Joan Sutter of Avon; a brother-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law,
Ralph and Marge Selhorst of Columbus, Clarice Sutter of Columbus, Stella Sutter of Mansfield, and Edna Keller of Crestline. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hohenbrink in 1984, 2 brothers, Victor and Robert Sutter and a brother-in-law, Norbert Shorty Keller.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 25, 2009 from 1-4 and 6-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Her son, Fr. Mike Hohenbrink, Fr. Mike Geiger and Fr. Dennis Metzger will concelebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Sacred Heart Church, Dominican Sisters of St. Mary Of The Springs in Columbus, or Findlay St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church Legacy Campaign.
