Helen B. Hopkins
Helen B. Hopkins, age 98, formerly of 23 Park Village, Shelby, died Friday, December 3, 1999 at the Heritage Care Center after a short illness.
She was born May 8, 1901 in Greenwich, Ohio the daughter of James and Anna Caroline (Frazee) Hopkins.
Miss Hopkins was a secretary at the Eaton Manufacturing Company in Cleveland. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby, Retired School Teachers Association, Past worthy matron of Eastern Star Lincoln Chapter #309 in Lakewood and an honorary member of Rizpah Chapter #153 Order of Eastern Star in Shelby. She made the most of her stay at Heritage Care Center, as she made morning announcements and took an active part in all the activities.
She is survived by 2 nieces, Anna Mae Bly of Ganges and Carolyn Doerr of Moultrie, GA; 3 nephews: Rev. Arthur Hamman of Shiloh, Gerald Hamman of Mansfield, and Charles Hopkins of Las Vegas; a special friend, Charlie Hamman of Shelby. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Florence Hamman and Artie Hopkins; 1 brother, Lawrence Hopkins; and 2 nephews, James Eugene Hamman and Larry Dean Hamman.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 6-8 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home, Shelby, and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
