Hazel (Porter) Workman

Hazel Porter Workman, age 76, of 13 1/2 West Main Street, Shelby, died Saturday, February 8, 1997, in the Crestwood Care Center after an extended illness. She was born January 16, 1921 in Wayne County, West Virginia the daughter of Millard and Martha Jane (Selby) Porter.
Mrs. Workman moved to Shelby in January of 1956 from Wayne County, West Virginia. She retired in 1968 as a press operator at the A.M.F. Company in Shelby after 12 years of service. She was a member of the Fist Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Ollie Cole of Shelby, Betty and Robert Riedlinger of Plymouth, and Bertha and Richard McAfee of Smyrna, Tennessee; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Brenda Queen, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where the funeral will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday with Rev. Herman Copley officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
