Harold L. Went

Harold L. Went, age 82, of 3470 State Route 39, Shelby, died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard after an extended illness.

Mr. Went was born June 24, 1918 in McComb, Ohio, the son of Clarence and Lena Neoma (Conine) Went. He was a 1936 graduate of Shelby High School and attended business college. He worked for Lumberman’s Mutual Insurance Company in Mansfield for 35 years retiring as vice president of sales for Interstate Business Services, a subsidiary of Lumberman’s. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Emilie L. (Oesch) Went, whom he wed on October 18, 1941; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James Dannemiller of Willard; a son and his fianceé, Charles Went and Karen Hoover of Greenwich; 5 grandchildren and spouse: Jennifer and Chuck Gregory, Nick Kovach, Rachel Kovach, Dawn Went, and Megan Went; a great grandson, Romney Michael Gregory; a step great-granddaughter, Haley Gregory; a niece, Becky Adams of Marblehead; 2 nephews: Dale Lybarger of Marysville and Alvin Lybarger of Shelby; numerous nieces and nephews on his wife’s side.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eunice Lybarger in 1972, and a great grandson, Harley Michael Gregory in 1997.

Calling hours will be on Sunday, April 29, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00AM conducted by Mark Master, minister of the Apostolic Christian Church on Illinois Avenue in Mansfield. Burial will be in Lantz Cemetery in Mansfield. Memorial expressions may be made to Hillside Acres Nursing Home.
