Harold Clifford Parsons

Harold Clifford Parsons, 63, of 127 1/2 E. Main St., died Wednesday in Mansfield General Hospital after a short illness.

Born May 17, 1921 in Charleston, WV, he spent much of his life in Shelby. He was a line man for the Shelby Municipal Light Department for 32 years. A U.S. Navy veteran from World War II, he was an active member of O’Brien Post No. 326, Shelby American Legion; George Broderick Post No. 291 Shelby VFW, and the Shelby AmVets.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean (Johnson) Parsons; two sons: Halold Parsons, Jr. of Indiana and Russell Parsons of Maryland; three daughters: Mrs. Sheridan (Gladys Mae) Lucas of Marion; Mrs. Diana Blair and Mrs. John (Marsha) Meyer both of Shelby; two step-sons: Terry Starkey of New York and Frank Burton of Shelby; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Jack (Bonnie) Sichko of Shelby; 14 grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Lewis Parsons of Charleston, WV, and Doyle Parsons of Minnesota; and two sisters: Mrs. Warren (Loreen) Jividen of Charleston, WV, and Mrs. Clyde (Mildred) Sayre of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Fanny Parsons.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Lindow Koop, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by O’Brien Post No. 326, Shelby American Legion.
