Harley Dexter Kegley

Harley Dexter Kegley, age 74, of 148 Mansfield Avenue, Apt. 21, Shelby, died Saturday, April 28, 2001 at his home after a long illness.
He was born July 9, 1926 in Friendship, Ohio, the son of the late William and Rosa (Crose) Kegley. Dexter was a retired employee of Mansfield Asphalt Co. and was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of George Broderick Post #291 Veterans of Foreign War and the Shelby Owls. He enjoyed playing golf and collecting coins.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Swank) Kegley, whorm he wed on October 5, 1946; 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Anthony and Cathy Kegley & David and Jenny Kegley all of Willard, and Robert and Diana Kegley of Shelby; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Shirley Conkle Leininger and Don Leininger of Willard and Betty and Ivan Johnson of Marengo; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Earl Kegley of Shelby, Jim Kegley and Hollie Kegley both of Bracey, VA, and John Kegley of Nevada, OH; 5 sisters: Esther Swanger, Zenith Adkins, and Della Horn all of Shelby, Donna Kiser of Las Vegas, NV, and Freida Chaffin of Kermit, WV.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William Conkle, a brother, Norman Kegley, and 2 sisters: Mary Lou Kegley and Audra Kegley.
Calling hours will be on Monday, April 30, 2001, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, were funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Monty Perry, Pastor of Stiving Road Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Shelby VFW. Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
