Harlan Wendell Floro, Sr.
Harlan Wendell Floro, Sr., age 71, of 167 W. Smiley Ave. died Tuesday afternoon at his home after a one-year illness. He was born January 2, 1917 in La Carne, Ohio the son of George and Edna (Zeigler) Floro.
Mr. Fioro retired from Matlack Inc., in Madison, Ohio after 27 years of service where he was the Terminal manager. He also worked partime at the Shelby “Y” Community Center as the morning desk manager. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Reformed, and was a Navy veteran of WWII.
Mr. Floro is survived by his wife, Marguerite Mary (Berger) Floro whom he married on May 30, 1947; 6 sons: Larry and Dennis Floro both of Houston, Texas; Jim Floro of Apple Valley, CA; Ken Floro of Columbus, Ohio; Harlan, Jr. of Shelby; and John Floro of Tucson, AZ; 1 daughter: Constance Floro McCormick of Shelby; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Robert Floro of Oak Harbor, Ohio; George Floro of Alpine, TX; and Donald Floro of Florence, KY.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 A.M. at the Turner Funeral Home with his son the Rev. Dennis Floro officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery where full military graveside services will be conducted by the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home.
Memorial expressions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Shelby “Y” Community Center and left at the funeral home.
