Hallie (Roark) Burchett
Hallie Burchett, age 72, of 17 Franklin Avenue, Shelby, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born September 13, 1928 in Salyersville, Kentucky the daughter of Roscoe and Myrtle (Dyer) Roark and attended Carey High School. Mrs. Burchett was currently employed at Subway in Shelby. In the 1950s and 1960s she had been an employee of Pioneer Rubber in Willard. Prior to that she worked at Struble’s Drug Store in Shelby. She was a member of Crouse Memorial Lutheran Church in Tiro. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed yardwork, gardening, and cooking.
She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Wayne “Doug” and Vickie Burchett of Marion, and Jerry Burchett of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Joyce Porter of Shelby; 4 grandchildren: Heath Burchett, Sadie Scott, Delores Probst, and Jeff Porter; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Edeline Munday of Shelby and Bonnie Craft of Carey. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Scott” Burchett on September 5, 1986, a granddaughter, Cammy “Micki” Burchett on August 27, 2000, 3 sisters: Blanche Daniels, Katherine Arnett, Ruth Rowe, and a brother, Gordon Roark.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Steven Schag, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial expressions may be made to the family for a trust fund for her son Jerry.
