Grace C. (Artz) Pittenger
Grace C. Pittenger, age 97, formerly of 72 Mansfield Avenue, Shelby, died Wednesday morning, May 22, 1996, in the Heritage Care Center after a long illness. She was born May 11, 1899 in Shelby the daughter of Issac and Emma (Coover) Artz.
Mrs. Pittenger was a homemaker, and retired from the Shelby City Schools, after 17 years of service, where she had been a cafeteria worker. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the Ruth Gleaners Sunday School class, and A.A.R.P.
She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Charmayne Pittenger of Shelby and Russell D. and Ruth Pittenger of Shelby; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Lois E. (Herbert) and Royal Allard of Mansfield; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy B. Pittenger in 1985, 1 brother, Roscoe Artz, and by 2 sisters, Alma Varchman and Golda Myers.
Calling hours will be at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, in Shelby, on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service which will be held at noon at the funeral home, with her pastor Rev. D. Evan Houck, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
