Gordon V. Sharpless
Gordon Vernon Sharpless, age 85, of Taylortown Road, Shelby, died Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the Heritage Care Center after a short illness.
He was born January 24, 1921 in Greenwich, Ohio the son of the late Harry and Jane (Brown) Sharpless. Mr. Sharpless was the former owner of Sharpless Texaco Gas Station on the square in downtown Plymouth for 30 years and then operated the Sohio Gas Station in Shelby for 15 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Marrietta Mae (Schiefer) Sharpless whom he wed on April 15, 1944; 2 daughters and their husbands, Gwen and Bernard Rush of Baldwinsville, NY and Linda and Trent Sponseller of Shelby; 5 grandchildren, Christa Sponseller, Rachel Robinson, Kevin Sponseller, Zachery and Joel Rush; a great grandson, Nicholas Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers, Edward, Virgil, James, Harry and Dale Sharpless.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 from 1-2 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held at 2 PM. Burial will be in Little London Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Shelby American Legion. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
