Glenn R. Strouse

Glenn R. Strouse, age 75, of 17 West Jefferson Avenue, Shelby, died suddenly Wednesday morning, July 31, 1996, in the emergency room at Med Central-Shelby Hospital. He was born April 20, 1921 in Shelby.

Mr. Strouse was a 1939 graduate of Shelby High School and attended Mansfield and Columbus Business School.

Mr. Strouse was a retired employee of the Shelby Metal Products Company in Shelby and the State Of Ohio. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelby, was a life member and past commander of the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326, and a life member of the Shelby Sertoma Club.

He was an Army Airforce veteran of WWII and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. Strouse is survived by his wife, Nancy A. (Nimmons) Strouse whom he married on July 14, 1945; 1 son and daughter-in-law, David and Jackie Strouse of Wellford, South Carolina; 3 granddaughters, Jessica Strouse of Atlanta, Georgia, Erica Straker of Shelby, and Kara Strouse of Crestline; 1 great grandson, Alec Straker of Shelby; 4 step grandsons; 2 step great grandsons; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Carl DeWitt of Shelby .

He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Strouse in 1964, his mother, Myrtle A. (Broughton) Strouse Butterfield in 1995 and by a sister, Corinne Fisher in 1986.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with his pastor, Rev. Craig Jones, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.
