Glenn L. Hochenshilt

Glenn L. Hochenshilt, age 79, of 51 Park Village, Shelby, died Monday evening in Mansfield General Hospital after a short illness. He was born March 3, 1916 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio the son of Harry and Elizabeth (Fireoved) Hochenshilt.

Mr. Hochenshilt graduated from the Ohio State University where he was in the R.O.T.C. program. He began his teaching career at Chatfield High School and later taught for many years at Chesterville High School where he also coached football and basketball. He also farmed.

Mr. Hochenshilt loved all sports. He played football at Shelby High School where he graduated in 1934. He was recently honored at the 100 th Anniversary of Shelby Football. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby.

Mr. Hochenshilt is survived by his wife, Dorotha (White) Hochenshilt, whom he married on March 4, 1944; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Wilbur White of Shelby; Many nieces and nephews, including Lucille Ocker of Shipensburg, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Mary Hochenshilt and Viola and Herbert Davis.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby and also from 12:00 noon until the time of the services on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Joe Platt, Pastor of Saybrook United Methodist Church, Saybrook, Ohio will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby.

Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Shelby and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby.
