Glenn L. Haverfield

Glenn L. Haverfield, age 87, of State Route 96 East, Shelby, died Monday, September 3, 2007 after an extended illness.

He was born October 23, 1919 in Shelby the son of the late Ray W. and Grace (Bowman) Haverfield. He was a 1938 graduate of Shelby High School and was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater. He also served in the Korean War. On July 25, 1942 he married Vera E. Myers. He retired from Shelby Metal Products where was a tool and die maker. Glenn was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Toothpick Collectors of America, American Legion O’Brien Post #326, and was a former member of the Union Grange.

Glenn is survived by 2 brothers and spouses: Donald and Frances Haverfield of Shelby and Roger and Carol Haverfield of Sterling, Virginia;
A sister-in-law: Gladys P. Myers of Shelby; Nieces and spouses: Judy and Jacque Hoover of Shelby, Connie and Jack Berry of Mansfield, June and Kim Heuberger of Shelby; Nephews and spouses: Dean and Gail Myers of Shelby, Larry Myers of Shelby, Forrest and Carolyn Haverfield of Maplewood, Ohio and Gary and Tami Haverfield of Ontario. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera in 2004.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 6, 2007 from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Steven C. Bond officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with military honors conducted by the Shelby American Legion. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
