Gladys N. (Miller) Artz
Gladys N. Artz, 92, of 5121 Plymouth-Springmill Road died, Tuesday evening in the Crestwood Care Center.
She was born Jan. 14, 1901, in Crawford County to George W. and B. Ellen Zeiters Miller. Mrs. Artz was a homemaker. She and her husband, Ivan Jerry Artz, operated Artz Custom Slaughtering House on Plymouth-Springmill Road for 32 years. She was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Rebecca Circle and the King’s Daughters Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans and a life member of the Union Grange.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dean M. and Grace Artz of Shelby; a daughter, Nancy E. Smith of Crestline; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975 and by a grandson.
There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held later at Oakland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church in care of the Turner Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
