Gertrude H. (Montz) Heck

Gertrude H. Heck, age 93, formerly of 75 Park Village, Shelby, died Monday in the Heathergreene II nursing home in Jamestown, Ohio. She was born March 15, 1901 in Wyandot County, Ohio the daughter of David H. and Esther (Biles) Montz.

Mrs. Heck was a former employee of the Wilkins Air Force Depot in Shelby and prior to that she had been a teacher in Wyandot County.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, the Piecemakers Quilt Club, Four Corners Extension Club, and was a charter member of the Patrons Mothers Club.

Mrs. Heck is survived by 1 daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Richard DeWalt of Jamestown, Ohio; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, David L. and Joyce Heck of Endicott, New York, and Warren E. Heck of Ann Arbor, Michigan; 8 grandsons and their spouses, Samuel DeWalt of Columbus, Ohio; Scott and Tammy DeWalt of Bellefontaine, Ohio; Daniel DeWalt of Jamestown, Ohio; Peter Olmsted of Cambridge, England; Nick and Susan Olmsted of St. Sulpice, Switzerland; Andrew Olmsted of Cambridge, Mass; David Heck, Jr. of Buffalo, New York; and Robert Heck of San Francisco, Calf; 2 great grandsons, Ryan Olmsted and Nicholas DeWalt.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon L. Heck in 1988 and by a daughter, Emily Olmstead and by 2 half sisters.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Shelby with Pastor Loren E. Hoch, interim pastor officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Sycamore, Ohio.

Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168, West Main Street, Shelby.
