Georgianna (Yates) LeVan

Georgianna LeVan, age 84, of Columbus, and formerly of Shelby, died Sunday morning, January 27, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a short illness.

She was born August 25,1917 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late, George M. and Minnie (Ridgway) Yates. Mrs. LeVan was a 1935 graduate of Springfield High School. She retired from AMF in Shelby and had also been employed at the Wilkins Air Force Depot in Shelby. She was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters Of Isabella, and Altar Rosary Society. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bingo, and had a great love of animals, especially cats.

Mrs. LeVan is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John Michael and Sandra LeVan of Columbus; a daughter, Mary Margaret LeVan of Elburn, IL; a grandson, Brian Michael LeVan of Westerville, OH.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Raymond LeVan on June 4, 1999; by 2 brothers, Walter and Roland Yates; and a sister, Grace Fero.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2002, from 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where the Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary at 7:30PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10AM at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or to St. Mary’s School.
