George William Payne
George William Payne, age 58, of 235 1/2 West Main Street, Shelby, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 20,2000, at Med Central Shelby Hospital after experiencing a heart attack at home.
Mr. Payne was born July 15, 1941 in Jackson County, Kentucky, the son of John and Geneva (Gentry) Payne. He was a retired emplyee of Quanex Corp. in Shelby and was a member of the Shelby V.F.W. Post #291, Shelby Eagles Aries #763, and Shelby Owls Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Binion) Payne, whom he wed on October 17, 1964; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Vincent and Judy Payne of Pelham, GA, and Gregory W. Payne and Kristin Quinn of Cincinnati, OH; 2 brothers: Bobby Payne of Berea, KY, and Billy Payne of Sand Gap, KY; 2 sisters: Betty Coffey and Patricia Turner both of Richmond, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Charles Payne.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 23, 2000, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM, conducted by Rev. Randall Collins pastor of the Community Baptist Bible Church in Mansfield. Burial will be in Tiro Oakland Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to Shelby Home and Public Health.
