Gatha Luella (Chapman) Tackett

Gatha Luella (Chapman) Tackett, age 44, of 4240 Preston Road, Shelby, died Sunday afternoon at her home after an extended illness. She was born April 20, 1943 in Buckhannon, WV.

Mrs. Tackett is survived by her husband, Oren D. “Doug” Tackett, whom she married on September 7, 1963; her parents, Roland and Sarah (McCartney) Chapman of Shelby; 2 sons: Steve of Shelby, and Jeff at home; 2 daughters: Linda and Marilyn both at home; 1 grandson, Anthony; 1 brother, Francis Chapman of Shelby.

She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Vonzel Lee Chapman.

Mrs. Tackett had been employed at the First National Bank Of Shelby, and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Shelby.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at the First Freewill Baptist Church, 42 West Jefferson Ave, Shelby, with Rev. Monty Perry, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home.
