Frederick O. “Fred” Finn

Frederick O. Finn, age 78, of 20 Plum Avenue, Shelby, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Crestwood Care Center after a short illness.
Fred was born March 13, 1925 in Dade City, Florida the son of the late Edward and Amelia (Friebel) Finn. He began his printing career at Shelby Business Forms and then worked for 40 years at Shelby Printing, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where he sang in the church choir for many years, and Shelby Knights of Columbus Council #1968, where he served as treasurer of the Knicol Corporation. He was a former councilman for the city of Shelby representing Ward I and was the former president of the Shelby Catholic Credit Union. He was a Marine Veteran of World War II. Fred never met a stranger and will be missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife, Wanetta (Davies) Finn, whom he wed on September 18, 1948; a
daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Kevin Stuart of Columbus; a daughter and her friend, Kathleen Root and Frank Ward of Falmouth, Maine; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Debra Finn of Galloway; 7 grandchildren: John Cusato, Erin Root, Dan Root, Christopher Finn, Christina Finn, Michelle Finn, and Sarah Finn; 2 brothers, John Finn of Shelby and Earl Finn of Dallas, TX; a sister, Catherine Lux of Shelby. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edward and Joseph Finn.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 29, 2003 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where a wake service will be conducted Thursday at 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors. Memorial expressions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic church.
