Frank V. Nickelson
Frank V. Nickelson, age 74, of 3438 State Route 39, Shelby, died at 11:05 A.M., Monday, in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born February 14, 1919 in Mansfield, the son of Wiliiam and Tula (Shaw) Nickelson.
Mr. Nickelson was a retired mechanic from CPC Ontario-Mansfield Plant in 1980 after 23 years of service. Mr. Nickelson was a member of United Auto Workers Local #549, and the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Nickelson was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the 83rd infrantry in Germany.
Mr. Nickelson is survived by his wife, Norma B. (Cleland) Nickelson, whom he married on September 5, 1939; 1 daughter Carolyn A. Starrett of Michigan; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Glenna Nickelson of Gilbert, Arizona; 6 grandchildren: Vicki Williamson, Daryl Nickelson, Jr., Cathy A. McCauley, Mike Starrett, Kim Nickelson, and Jason, Nickelson; 4 great-grandchildren;
2 sisters: Betty Rule of Bucyrus, and Mildred Lambing of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by 1 brother and 1 sister.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Walter Keib, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Shelby American Legion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritus Foundation and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby.
