Francis A. “Dutch” Fisher

Francis A. “Dutch” Fisher, age 75, of 2772 Stiving Road, Mansfield, died unexpectedly Monday evening in Shelby Memorial Hospital. He was born May 15, 1918 in Vernon Junction, Richland County, Ohio the son of Frank and Clara (Murphy) Fisher.

In the mid 1950’s he became the co-owner of the Western Auto Store in Shelby. During the 1960’s the store became the G.E. Appliance Center, which he operated until 1982. He was currently working part time at Direct Maytag in Ontario.

Mr. Fisher was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1968 in Shelby, where he was past grand knight; American legion O’Brien Post #326 in Shelby and the Mansfield Liederkranz. He served in the Army Airforce in WWII and was a 1936 graduate of Shelby High School.

Mr. Fisher is survived by his fiance, Ann E. Mott of Mansfield; 4 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Robert and Lori Fisher of Las Vegas, Nevada; Richard and Lynn Fisher of Phoenix, Arizona; Tom and Priscilla Fisher of Cincinnati; and Kenneth Fisher of Cincinnati; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Dianne and Tom Stover of Reno, Nevada; and Carol and Doug McQuide of Gold Hill, Nevada; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, George Fisher.

Calling hours will be on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where a wake service will be held on Friday at 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with Father John C. Missler, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
