Florence M. (Appeman) Bakkala
Florence M. Bakkala, 91, of 15 Park Village died Tuesday night in Shelby Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
She was born Dec. 13, 1901, in Florence to August and Ann Stickreth Appeman. Mrs. Bakkala was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sisters: Elsie Hogsett and Esther “Pat” Armentrout, both of Shelby; a stepson, Eugene Bakkala of Stonington, CT; three step-grandchildren; three nephews; and a niece.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Maude Diedrick and Hazel Puckey; a brother: Harold Appeman; and a step-grandson.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Florence Cemetery in Florence by the Rev. Jeffery S. Atwater, pastor of the Wakeman Congregational Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelby Public Health League in care of the Turner Funeral Home.
