Fern R. (Clabaugh) Sweet
Fern R. Sweet, age 84, formerly of 47 Park Avenue, Shelby, died Sunday morning February 8, 2004, at the Heritage Care Center in Shelby.
Fern was born August 6, 1919 in Archer, Iowa, the daughter of the late Ira and Estella Mae (Barkman) Clabaugh. She was a 1937 graduate of Shelby High School and retired from AMF in Shelby. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby. Fern enjoyed crocheting, her flower gardens and visiting Lake Erie.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Phyllis Sweet of Shelby; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Ann and James Kleman of Shelby and Sally and David Gwirtz of Tiro; 9 grandchildren, Vince and Kim Sweet, Lori and Tracy McCombs, Tim and Lori Kleman, Vicky DeWalt, Sandy and Dave Daily, Michael and Suzan Biglin, Rhonda Biglin and her fiance Hiram Rosselle, Cheston J. Gilliam, Janelle Gilliam; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Durbin of Mansfield, Gladys and Cleo Taylor of Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Alice Clabaugh of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne Beck Sweet on December 25, 2001, 3 brothers, John, Ira and Joseph Clabaugh, and a sister, Sarah McKean.
Friends may call on Tuesday, February, 10, 2004 from 1-2 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where services will be held at 2 PM with Rev. Steven C. Bond, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the First Lutheran Church.
