Evelyn M. (Grau) Sand

Evelyn M. Sand, age 95, formerly of 2778 Rock Road, Shelby, died Saturday evening, October 13, 2001 at the Crestline Nursing Home after an extended illness.

She was born June 28, 1906 in Bucyrus, Ohio, the daughter of the late William Edward and Anna
Katherine (Wyss) Grau. Mrs. Sand was a 1925 graduate of Mt. Zion School in Bucyrus. She was a seamstress for over 30 years at Snowhite Cleaners in Shelby and was a member of and First
English Lutheran Church in Mansfield for over 70 years. She also belonged to AARP. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing, flower gardening, and traveling.

Mrs. Sand is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Judy and Ronald E. Norris of Shelby; a son: Gary F. Sand of Shelby; 5 grandchildren: Brian Love of Tucson, AZ, Michael Sand of FL, Mark Sand of Lexingon, Steve Sand of Columbus, and Angela Moyer of Ontario; 5 great-grandchildren: Kristen Moyer, Korey Moyer, Jarrad Sand, Courtney Sand, and Aaron Love; a brother: Wilbur Grau of Bucyrus; a sister: Irene Futch of Columbia, SC; 2 sister-in-law: Emma Grau of Mansfield, and Edith Ehmann of Bucyrus.

On Sept. 27, 1930 , she married Carl Frederick Sand, and he preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her 3 brothers: Arthur, Loren and Dale Grau.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, from 6-8PM and on Wednesday from 10AM-11AM at the Turner
Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Cloyd Kress, visitation pastor of First English Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be In Oakwood Cemetery In Bucyrus. Memorial expressions may be made to the First English Lutheran Church.
