Evelyn A. (Zahner) McGuire

Evelyn A. McGuire, age 89, of 36 Vernon Road, Shelby, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a long illness. She was born April 2, 1910 in Shelby, the daughter of John and Anna (Gremling) Zahner.

Mrs. McGuire was a homemaker and was a former employee of the Smart Shop in Shelby. She was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, St. Ann Society, and AARP.

She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Sandi McGuire of Cincinnati, and Robert and Debra McGuire of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester McGuire in 1978; a son William McGuire; a grandson, Dennis McGuire; and a brother, Norman Zahner.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 6, 2000 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. The Daughters of Isabella will recite the rosary Thursday at 3:00 PM and a Christian wake service will be held at 7:30PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with Father John C. Missler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to the Diabetes Association.
