Eugene “Gene” Stamper
Eugene “Gene” Stamper, age 66, of 153 Leslie Lane, Shelby, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at Med Central Shelby Hospital.
Mr. Stamper was born April 1, 1933 in Menifee Co. , Kentucky, the son of Tom and Berth (Ferguson) Stamper. He retired in 1990 from Copperweld Shelby Division after 38 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked as a title runner for Rocket Chevy Olds in Shelby. He loved to drive and work on his farm in Kentucky.
Mr. Stamper is survived by his wife, Helen Kathleen (Steele) Stamper, whom he married on July 5, 1952; a daughter and son-in-law: Jacqueline and Bryan Adams of Shelby; 2 granddaughters: Kristina and Sierra Adams; a step-granddaughter, Brandi Adams. 8 sisters: Mildred Fields of Garrett, Indiana, Corinne Manning, Golden Simpson, Debbie Spencer all of Mariba, Kentucky, Christine Simpson of Wellington, Kentucky, Wilma Back of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Bernice Botts of Denniston, Kentucky, and Fern Sallie of Pomeroyton, Kentucky; 2 brothers: Harvey Stamper of Wellington, Kentucky and James Curtis Stamper of Mariba, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brother: Hirman, Earnest, Ralph and Tommy Stamper; and a sister, Alta Lawson.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby and Saturday after 4 p.m. at the Menifee Home for Funerals in Frenchburg, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Menifee Home for Funerals. Burial will be in Bashford Cemetery, Menifee County, Kentucky.
