Emma Marie (Roettgen) Eberl

Emma Marie Eberl, age 79, of 4071 Stein Road, Shelby, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, October 23, 1997, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus.

She was born October 5, 1918 in Glasgow, Missouri the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Haskamp) Roettgen. Mrs. Eberl was a homemaker. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed flower gardening and quilting. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she was an active worker with the parish prayer chain and the parish bingo program.

She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Eberl, whom she married on October 5, 1940; 6 daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Tom Niese of Tiro; Janet and Jim Adelman of Norwalk; Eileen and Bob Davies of Charlotte, North Carolina; Linda and Bill Brant of Washington state; Miriam and Paul Schroeder of Shelby; Ann and Bob Estep of Crestline. 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Catherine Roettgen of Frankenstein, Missouri and Theresa Wilbers of Jefferson City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill Roettgen and John Roettgen and by 2 sisters, Helen Schaefer and Josephine Roettgen.

Calling hours will be on Sunday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral home in Shelby, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial expressions may be made to St. Mary School or to the church.
