Elsie (Waines) Hursh

Elsie Waines Hursh, age 90 , formerly of Park Village, in Shelby, died unexpectedly Monday Morning, April 7, 1997, in the Crestwood Care Center. She was born April 7, 1907 in Norton, Durham County, England, the daughter of Mose and Mary Ann (Taylor) Waines.

Mrs. Hursh was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelby and the Sunshine Club. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She is survived 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Sally J. and Forrest Moore of Shelby, Rebecca S. and Jerry Barber of Shelby, Bonnie and Ben Niles of Big Pine Key, Florida; 1 step daughter, Mary A. Biddle of Loudenville; 2 step sons, James L. Hursh of Seattle, Washington, William H. Hursh of Apple Creek; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; Several step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; 1 Brother, John “Jack” Waines of Squim, Washington; 4 sisters, Jessie Wilkinson of Hawaii, Edith Ebersole of Huron, Eleanor Stock of Mansfield, and Kathleen Morrison of Mansfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zeno Louis Hursh in 1969, a grandson, Trent Barber, a step son John Hursh, a step grandson, George M. Biddle, a step great grandson, Matthew Biddle and a brother, Mose Waines, Jr.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, and also one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with her pastor, Rev. Craig Jones, officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
