Elsie Louise (Boor) Cline

Elsie Louise Cline, age 87, of 35 Parkwood Drive, Shelby, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital after a short illness.

She was born February 12, 1920 in Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Mason and Mary Catherine (England) Boor. On May 10, 1941 she married Henry R. Cline at her parent’s home, and he survives.

Also surviving along with her husband, is one daughter, Linda Cline of Shelby; a sister, Martha Jean Smith of Monroeville; 2 brothers, Salo and Virginia Boor and Robert and Mary Ellen Boor all of Shelby; Many Nieces and Nephews. Though Elsie never had grandchildren of her own, she dearly loved and adopted her neighbors’, Pat and Patience Lewis’ three children, Parker, Riley and Rees Lewis. She was preceded in death by 2 infant sons; 4 sisters, Doris Taylor, Ramona Crall, Joy Longnecker, and Miriam Daup; 4 brothers, Grayson, John, Gerald and Eugene Boor.

Elsie graduated in 1938 from Shiloh High School. She began her working career as a bubble gum wrapper at Shelby Gum Company. She worked at the First National Bank and the Citizens Bank of Shelby. She had owned the Elsie Louise Shoppes in Shelby, Plymouth and New Washington for many years, retiring from Wickes Lumber Company as a bookkeeper.

Elsie was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and past president of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Rizpah Chapter #153 Order of Eastern Star, and Gourmet Club. Elsie was well known for her skills in the kitchen, especially her pie baking. She passed on her cooking and baking skills as a teacher in the adult education department at Pioneer Joint Vocational School.

Friends may call on Friday, August 24, 2007 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby where Eastern Star Services will be conducted at 7:45 PM. Funeral services will be on Saturday, at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church in Shelby with Pastor Gail Angel officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to the church.
