Elnathan L. Snider
E.L. Snider, 90, of 70 N. Gamble St., died early Thursday morning at his home following an extended illness. Born Aug. 19, 1895 in Ada, he was the son of Frank and Susan (Hoy) Snider.
He had been employed as a Railway Express agent in Lima and Saint Marys and Sewickley, PA before being sent to the Shelby post, from which he retired in 1962.
After his retirement, he was an employee of the First National Bank of Shelby. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Shelby. He fought in the battle of Vittoria-Venteto in Italy during World War I and was a member of Shelby American Legion Post No. 326.
Survivng are his two sons: Dr. Edwin F. Snider of Salem, OR, and Dr. Richard T. Snider of Portland, OR; two daughters: Mrs. Kenneth J. (Peg) Shoos of Shaker Heights, and Mrs. Robert
E. (Jo) Cottrell of Shelby; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva I. (Poling) in 1976; two sisters, and one brother.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ada. Memorial services will not be held until Dec. 7 at the First Lutheran Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church or Shelby Memorial Hospital and can be left at Turner Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
