Ellsworth James “Daupie” Daup

Ellsworth James “Daupie” Daup, age 73, of 29 Jayne Avenue, Shelby, died early Wednesday morning, August 14, 1996, at his home after a short illness. He was born January 22, 1923 in Bloomingrove Township, Rome, Ohio the son of Ralph and Josephine (Tullis) Daup.

Mr. Daup retired in 1976 as vice-president of Champion Home Builders in Adrian, Michigan, prior to that, he had been plant manager at Shelby Metal Products Co. in Shelby.

He was a 1940 graduate of Shiloh High School, was a Navy Veteran Of W.W. II. Mr. Daup was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelby, and the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326.

Mr. Daup is survived by his wife, Kathleen (James) Daup, whom he married on November 11, 1942; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Kilhyon Daup of Newport News, Virginia, and Steve and Sharon Daup of Adrian, Michigan; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Porter Beal of Monroe, Georgia, Mary Jo and Jim Early of Dublin, Ohio, and Beth and Tim Reik of Shelby, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Betty Daup of Ashland, Ohio ; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Wallace Harnly of Summervillle, South Carolina;

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Douglas Daup in 1966 and by 1 great grandson, Nicholas Arbetello.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby, where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. with his pastor Rev. James Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio.

Memorial expressions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Of North Central Ohio and left in care of the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street; Shelby, Ohio 44875.
