Ellen Cecelia (Shaw) Fox

Ellen Cecelia Fox, age 89, of 5751 West Smiley Road, Shelby, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Med Central Mansfield Hospital, after a period of declining health.

She was born October 18, 1916 in Lancaster, Ohio the daughter of the late David M. and Clara Elizabeth (Rohrer) Shaw. Ellen was a 1934 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster and was a homemaker. Prior to her marriage to Carmen J. Fox, on September 23, 1946, she worked at Anchor Hocking in Lancaster. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby and the Altar Rosary Society. She had been a western square dancer for 20 years. She enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her husband of 59 years, Carmen J. Fox; 4 sons and spouses, Ted and Dianne Fox of Mansfield, Denis and Kathy Fox of Ashland, Leonard and Kathy Fox of Shelby, Victor and Jeanne Fox of Dublin; 2 daughters and spouse, Sheila and Joe Barrett of Delaware, Karen Esbenshade of Ashland; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Fox in 1947, 5 brothers, Howard, Paul, Wilfrid, George and Pius Shaw and by 4 sisters, Catherine Shaw, Celestia Tooill, Jeannette Fox, and Bernadine Shaw.

Friends may call on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, Ohio, where a Christian wake service will be held at 8PM. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday from 8:30AM-9:30 AM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Wednesday at 10 AM at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby with Father Nick Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lockbourne, Ohio. Memorial expressions may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Church or to St. Mary’s School in Shelby.
