Elizabeth Rachel (Boosz) Hays

Elizabeth Rachel Hays, 84, of 10 E. Madison Avenue, died Tuesday morning, in Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Columbus, after an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1901 in Marion, Indiana. She was the daughter of George and Rachel ( Brown) Boosz. She married Vern H. Hays on April 18, 1927, and he survives.

Surviving besides her husband, are 1 son: George Hays of Shelby; 1 grandson: Russ Hays of Ft. Myers, FL; 1 granddaughter: Sherry Peter, of Columbus; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Geraldine Shaw.

Mrs. Hays had been a clerk at the former Peoples Store in Shelby for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a Girl Scout Leader.

Funeral services wil be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl G. Beighley, officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the First Church of God and left at the TURNER FUNERAL HOME.
