Elizabeth Jane “Dolly” (Smith) Alt
Elizabeth Jane “Dolly” Alt, age 69, of 5246 West Smiley Road, Shelby, died Wednesday afternoon at her home. She was born September 24, 1926 in Lima, Ohio the daughter of Harry and Freda (Kipp) Smith.
Mrs. Alt was a homemaker. She was a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society; and the Shelby Knights Of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a past recipient of “The Lady Of The Year” award and had played on the ladies golf league.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Alt, whom she married on January 29, 1948; 7 daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Brian Buckley of Bucyrus; Sue and Charles Fancourt of Bucyrus; Theresa and Eric Badmann of Upper Black Eddy, Pennsylvania; Jeannice and Kent Emerson of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania; Barbara and Daniel Murphy of Palm City, Florida; Mary and Sean Geary of Cocoa Beach, Florida; and Lenora and Chris Parsons of Chesapeake, Virginia; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Thomas and Julia Alt of Shelby; Kevin and Cindy Alt of Shelby and Charles Alt of Shelby; 15 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Van Gundy of Lima, Ohio; Rosemary Page of Lima, Ohio; Kathleen Miller of Clearwater Beach, Florida; 2 brothers, Carl Smith of Lima, Ohio and Richard Smith of Cridersville, Ohio;
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Martha Haas and Pauline Van Gundy, 1 brother, William Smith.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 P.M. at the Turner Funeral Home in Shelby where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby, with her pastor Father John C. Missler and Father Norbert Weber, officiating. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery.
