Eileen E. (Fackler) Kirkpatrick

Eileen E. Kirkpatrick, age 79, of East Smiley Avenue, Shelby, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Med Central Shelby Hospital after a short illness.
She was born April 15, 1927 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio the daughter of the late Alfred and Fleta (Pittinger) Fackler. She was a 1945 graduate of Shelby High School. After high school, she attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She was encouraged by Miss Josephine Hoover to go into nursing and graduated from Swedish Covenant School of Nursing in Chicago. Eileen loved to travel and she started her nursing career in Arizona, moving on to California, Berea, Ohio and then back to Shelby to be a special nurse when her nieces were born. She was the head nurse at Shelby Memorial Hospital for many years, retiring in 1981. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Shelby where she spent time visiting the shut-ins and taking them meals. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening. She will be remembered by her family for the beautiful suits, coats and dresses she made for her nieces. Eileen was very tenderhearted, with a love of all animals, which she often made her pets.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Joseph Kirkpatrick, whom she wed on March 23, 1963; a brother and his wife, Clarence and Evelyn Fackler of Shelby; a sister and her husband, Virginia and William Hettinger of Shelby; Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her niece, Janet Anderson Straw, and by 2 sisters-in-law, Jane Anderson and Doris Smith.
Friends may call on Sunday, October 29, from 2-5 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12:30 PM at the First Baptist Church, Gamble Street, Shelby with her pastor, Rev. Robert Becker officiating. Burial will be in Adams Cemetery on Bowman Street Road. Memorial expressions may be made to the church or the Gideons.
