Eileen (Dick) Tomlinson
Eileen Tomlinson, age 90, of Bradley Avenue, Shelby, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the Crestwood Care Center after a short illness.
She was born October 9, 1916 in Shelby the daughter of the late Rolla and Ruth E. (Fidler) Dick. A native of Shelby, Eileen lived many years on Hazelbrush Road before moving into town. She was a 1935 graduate of Shelby High School. In 1939 she married Mervin A. Tomlinson and he preceded her in death in 2002. They had been married for 63 years.
In her early years in the work force, Eileen worked for many years at Fred Laubie Ford in Shelby. She spent her last 35 years of employment at the Daily Globe, retiring in 1997. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Shelby and held the title of longest standing member of the church. She was very involved with the United Methodist Women and her Circle at the church. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for the many cards she sent throughout her life to celebrate a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or other special occasion.
Eileen is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dick L. and Debra Tomlinson of Shelby; a granddaughter, Shirley C. Tomlinson of Shelby; a grandson, Adam W. Riddlebaugh of Chesapeake, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Donna Dick of Shelby; a nephew, Greg Dick of Shelby; a niece, Linda Kapcar of Strongsville, Ohio; many cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Beth Tomlinson in 1949 and Lonna Dee Riddlebaugh in 1983, a brother, Edwin Dick in 2000.
Friends may call on Friday, January 5, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby and also on Saturday from 10:30-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Paula Archdeacon, pastor of Tiro United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Memorial expressions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio.
