Effie M. (Moon) Barnes

Effie M. Barnes, 86, of 399 W. Broadway, Plymouth, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Heritage Care Center in Shelby.

She was born March 1, 1914 in Cass Township, Richland County, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Vergie (Gieseman) Moon.

Mrs. Barnes was a 1932 graduate of Shelby High School and was a former employee of Miller Shelby Products. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth. Her hobbies included sewing, making quilts and cooking.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Bland of Shelby; a grandson, Todd Bland of Shelby; numerous friends and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Barnes on December 10, 1983, 4 brothers: John, William, Edward, and Walter Moon; 4 sisters: Florence Brown, Elsie Lee, Anna King and
Hazel Moon.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Steele officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial expressions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
