E. Corene (Thompson) Humphrey

E. Corene Humphrey, age 86, of 20 West Gaylord Avenue, Shelby, Ohio died early Thursday, June 10, 1999 at her home.
She was born September 29, 1912 in Ada, Hardin County, Ohio, the daughter of Don R. and Olena (Davis) Thompson. She came to Shelby in 1926 from Arlington, Ohio at the age of 13, and was a 1931 graduate of Shelby High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelby, and was a charter member of A.A.R.P. and Gambles Mills Questors.
Mrs. Humphrey was the owner of Wayside Antiques on State Route 39 South for many years. She was the founder of the Shelby Museum where she served as its curator for 12 years. She was honored for all of her dedicated work with the museum in March of 1988, when Mayor Bill Thompson presented her with a symbolic key to the City of Shelby.
On January 2, 1932 she married Floyd “Babe” Humphrey and he preceded her in death on January
31,1972.
She is survived by special friends, Marjorie Roush and Jane Dunn both of Shelby.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby with Rev. Craig Jones, officiating. Memorial expressions may be made to the Shelby Museum.
