Dr. F. Philson Cross
Dr. F. Philson Cross, age 56, of 19 Sunset Drive, Shelby, died early Tuesday morning in the University Hospital in Columbus, after an extended illness. He was born October 8, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Paul and Ruth (Totten) Cross.
Dr. Cross is survived by his wife, Janet (Ogle) Cross, whom he married on August 11, 1957; 1 son, Kevin Cross of Shelby; 2 daughters, Mrs. David (Terra) Boroff of Columbus, Ohio and Kristen Cross of Columbus, Ohio; 1 grandson.
Dr. Cross was a retired dentist. He was a graduate of Marietta High School and Marietta College where he received his BS degree. He received his DDS degree from The Ohio State University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelby. He was a past member of the Central Ohio Dental Society, the Sertoma Club and the Shelby Rotary. Dr. Cross worked with the Shelby Little League, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home with his pastor the Rev. Dr. Carl G. Beighley officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Shelby. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Turner Funeral Home.
The Family suggests that memorial expressions may be made to the Shelby YMCA Community Center and left at the funeral home.
