Dorothy I. (Worthington) Roth
Dorothy I. Roth, age 91, of Shelby, died Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Crestwood Care Center after a long illness.
She was born July 5, 1915, in Shelby, the daughter of the late Otis R. and Zula B. (Viers) Worthington. Dorothy was a 1934 graduate of Shelby High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Shelby, Shelby VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Shiloh American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Shelby Lady Whippets and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Richard Messner of Shelby; a daughter-in-law, Connie Roth of Shelby; 6 grandchildren and their families, Jerry and Lynette Roth and their children, Nikki, Alison, Ashleigh, and Rachael; John and Theresa Roth; Jodi and Chris Korbas and their children, Konnor and Kody; Russ and Jodi Messner and their children, Courtney, Shawnee and Cole; Michelle and Garth Montgomery and their children, Erik and Evan; and Matthew and Wendy Messner. She is also survived by a brother and his wife, Rolla and Mary Worthington of Shelby and 2 brothers-in-law, Dean Viers of Fairborn and Howard Ross of Shelby; a sister-in-law and her husband, Margaret and Walter Winkle of North Field, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean L. Roth in 1986, a son, James Roth in 1999, 2 brothers, Harley and Rollin Worthington and 3 sisters, Mary Viers, Zulabelle Zooty Ross and Helen Worthington.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM with Pastor Steven C. Bond officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven. Memorial expressions may be made to First Lutheran Church Food Bank or Shelby Help Line Ministries.
